Job Summary

The Sr. Manager, Compliance is a key member of the iHerb’s compliance team based in the Netherlands. This role will be responsible for managing product and trade compliance programs, policies, reporting and practices for the business. The Sr. Manager will act as a point of contact for government authorities, ensuring appropriate and timely communication regarding compliance issues. 

Job Expectations

Legal and Regulatory Compliance

  •  Establish business process and local compliance policies based on global compliance structure and corporate principles as well as applicable local laws and regulations. 
  • Manage and oversee trade practice compliance with industry laws, regulations, and guidelines, including but not limited to providing compliance guidance, overseeing the review and approval of product and marketing materials. 
  • Conduct and/or participate in internal investigations. 
  • Track monitoring findings and required actions to resolve and ensure timely remediation. 
  • Actively follow regulatory trends in the market, including business practices, distribution and marketing of the company’s various product lines and regularly update business functions, including Legal, Compliance, and Government Relations departments. 
  • Provide necessary training to internal and external business partners. 
  • Advise business teams on government investigations/inquiries covering various areas of the company’s business. 

Customs Compliance

  •  Report incoming requests from customs authorities to the Global Logistics department, and support the Global Logistics department upon request to provide various reports, forms, and investigation feedback on time. 
  • Participate in ad-hoc in-person meetings organized by customs authorities, and provide guidance to the appropriate internal stakeholders. Monitoring changes in trade regulations and accessing their impact on the company. 
  • Manage relationships with customs brokers and other service providers as needed. 
  • Collaborate with the marketing and IT departments to support in the construction and improvement of websites. 
  • Appropriately file all documents, including both paper and electronic versions. 
  • Continuously updating workflow to support audit work. 
  • Safely keep various documents (if any) and make detailed handover records. 
  • Support on other matters not listed (according to specific needs). 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Solid knowledge and experiences in compliance, investigation, dispute resolution, government investigation. 
  • Ability to manage complex issues and develop practical solutions while maintaining discretion and protecting confidentiality. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build trustworthy relationships with colleagues and business partners, yet maintain a high degree of independence, professional standing and confidentiality. 
  • Strong negotiation skills with a solid understanding of commercial processes. 
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills with a pragmatic “problem-solving” approach 
  • Fluent written and verbal English language. 
  • Understanding of compliance best practices and typical risk/red flag issues and practices in Europe. 
  • Knowledge of and experience advising on the FCPA, the UK Bribery Act, sanctions laws, and other compliance-related laws and regulations. 

Experience Requirements

  • At least 3 – 5 years working experience with relevant regulatory policies and laws in Europe. Experience in the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) is a plus.
  • Working experience in the Vitamin/Food & Beverage/Cosmetics/Pharmaceutical industry is preferred but not mandatory

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or practical legal or compliance experience
